Ted and Nelson were our MCs for the evening and kept everything running smoothly and in good humour. This isn't an easy thing to do when your topic for the evening is breast cancer. But, as I've said before, these are two of the funniest guys I know, they work off each other very well and are exceptionally good at thinking on their feet. As they said themselves, "the perfect hosts for an event like this would have to be a pair of boobs, and like any good pair, they look the same, but one's slightly larger." They did a great job.
My good friend Heather gave a beautiful speech on breast cancer survivorship and the importance of the work we're helping to fund at Princess Margaret Hospital. She was only 26 years old when she was diagnosed and underwent treatment. Thankfully, she's come through it like a champ, is almost 5 years cancer free and has since, welcomed a beautiful baby boy to the family! (She's amazing.)
Since early detection is the most important element in cancer survivorship, Heather gave us a demonstration of the proper way to do your monthly breast exam, with the aid of Nelson and Ted, her lovely assistants.
